Professional background

Experience and training

Dr. Chan qualified in medicine at the University of Malaya and completed his Master of Surgery at the same institution. Over more than 20 years in practice, his clinical focus has settled on colorectal surgery – an area where many patients delay seeking help because symptoms feel private or embarrassing.

In 2015 he became one of the first surgeons in Malaysia to offer Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty, a technique that treats hemorrhoids through a small laser fibre rather than conventional excision. He continues to use both laser and established surgical methods, selecting the approach that suits each patient’s condition rather than applying one technique to all cases.

There’s nothing to feel embarrassed about

Colorectal problems are more common than most people think. Many patients delay care because the symptoms feel private – a consultation is confidential and handled without judgement.

What Dr. Chan treats

Areas of expertise

These conditions are common and treatable. Many respond well to early, non-surgical measures; where a procedure is needed, minimally invasive and laser options can shorten recovery.

Approach to care

Good treatment starts with listening

Dr. Chan takes time to understand each patient’s symptoms and concerns before recommending a course of action, and explains the options – including when surgery is not required – in plain terms. Colorectal problems are common, and consultations are handled with discretion and without judgement. The aim at every stage, from first consultation to recovery, is a clear plan the patient understands and is comfortable with.
